ok.. setelah berkutat dengan suse 10 selama 2 mingguan ini. akhirnya dgn bangga gw bisa bilang: All running at 100%.

aniwey here’s the review. menurut gw dibanding dgn suse 9.3 suse 10 ini lebih cepet n lebih responsif. memang pada boot pertama agak lama, tapi boot2 selanjutnya ngacir bo’.
pada awalnya gw sempat mengalami 2 masalah:
1. gw online melalui phone zte wp920BD yg chip modemnya qualcomm. di yast terdeteksi sebagai /dev/ttyACM0 dan output lsusb menghasilkan:
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 05c6:3100 Qualcomm, Inc. CDMA Wireless Modem/Phone
yang menandakan modem terdeteksi dengan baik.
masalahnya tidak ada file ttyACM0 di direktori /dev/ (what the f@ck). so gag bisa internetan deh.
2. VGA gw pake Radeon 9550, dan 3D-nya tidak berfungsi. gw dah download drivernya dari http://www.ati.com –> Drivers & Software –> Linux dan ngikutin cara2 di ati-installer-HOWTO.html yg gw dapet dari ftp-nya suse. no luck, gw malah gag bisa masuk ke kdm. blank screen.
solusi
1. edit file /etc/init.d/boot.local
tambahkan command berikut:
mknod /dev/ttyACM0 c 166 0
modprobe cdc-acm
contoh boot.local gw:

command tsb akan meng-create file /dev/ttyACM0 dan meload module cdc-acm pada setiap boot. knapa pada setiap boot? karena file /dev/ttyACM0 terhapus secara otomatis setiap kali system dimatikan. mungkin bug pada suse.
2. hanya untuk vga ATI, yg nvidia gw gag tau ya.. gag punya :p
download drivernya dari http://www.ati.com –> Drivers & Software –> Linux
ati-driver-installer-8.18.8-i386.run
lalu coba ikuti langkah2 yg ada pada ati-installer-HOWTO.html. kalo berhasil, you’re in luck. kalo gagal, maka ikutin langkah2 gw.
sebagai user jalankan command berikut di direktori yg ada driver ati yg situ download itu.
$./ati-driver-installer-8.18.8-i386.run –extract fglrx
$su
#mkdir /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/
#cp -v ./fglrx/packages/SuSE/* /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/
#./ati-driver-installer-8.18.8-i386.run
pilih yg automatic aja. setelah intalasi jgn menjalankan command fglrxconfig. tapi jalankan command:
#sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx -b /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile
restart. harusnya sekarang 3D udah aktif di suse 10 lo. bisa dicek dgn command fglrxinfo
$fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON 9550 Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3.5395 (X4.3.0-8.18.8)
kalo outpotnya bukan mesa bearti sukses.
kalau lo termasuk diantara orang2 yg tidak beruntung :p n malah gag bisa masuk ke x (kdm, gdm) . hapus semua modelines yg ada di section Modes dari xorg.conf anda (backup dulu ya!). itu biang kerok yg ngebikin blank screen. (2 hari ngutak-atik xorg.conf, ternyata biang keroknya itu)
